An introduction to Marine Biology in collaboration with Morningside College, Iowa and the AMP Plemmirio Marine Reserve, Siracusa.
This is a 4-week, 4-credit course designed for undergraduate students interested in a hands-on experience in Mediterranean Marine Biology with a focus on marine preservation and ecology. It includes an intensive course of Open-water Diving, and training in sampling and visual census techniques.
Students will accompany staff from the Plemmirio Marine reserve on activities of census and control.
The island of Ortigia, the historic center of Siracusa, is a wonderful place for this course, surrounded by the Mediterrean Sea. Students will love the beauty of the place, the lifestyle, the history and culture, the cuisine, and the welcoming and vibrant local community.
